Nintendo has tried to warn the ROM sites for using their games without their permission. After suing and winning their case against LoveRoms and LoveRetro.co, the longtime video game company is now setting their sites on RomUniverse.com, one of the most visited ROM sites online. Nintendo says the website has over 800,000 copies of their games, including Nintendo 3DS and Switch games according to our source.
To make things worse, RomUniverse has a $30-per-year membership, so they are making a nice chunk of change to get Nintendo games. Nintendo is seeking $150,000 for each copyrighted work and up to 2 million for infringing each NOA trademark. Given what just happened to LoveRoms, I’m going to take a wild guess and say Nintendo will get RomUniverse shut down before the year is over.
