After 35 years on the Sony staff, former CEO Kazuo Hirai has left the company. Last year Kaz gave the CEO role to Kenichiro Yoshida but agreed to stay on the board as a director and chairman. Now Kaz has left the company for good according to sources. 35 years is a very long time to be with one company and Kaz started on the Sony Music Entertainment division before moving over to Sony Computer Entertainment America.
Kaz then had a hand in the launch of the PS2 and PS3. He also helped make the franchises Jak and Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, and Sly Cooper. We will see what Kenichiro will do at the new CEO, but we will miss the impact that Kaz had on the Sony game division.
