With the new Death Note movie on it’s way to Netflix, it’s been reported that Willem Dafoe will be joining the cast. Dafoe will be taking on the voice of Ryuk the Shinigami, a demonic creature who ultimately puts the story into motion.
Dafoe will be alongside other Hollywood actors and actresses such as Nat Wolff, Keith Stanfield, Paul Nakauchi, and Shea Whigham. Earlier this year. It was also reported that the film had moved from Warner to Netflix. For those that don’t already know, here is the synopsis of the movie:
It tells the story of a high school student called Light Yagami, who comes into possession of a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone whose name he writes in it. Light sets out to rid the world of evil but finds himself relentlessly pursued by a legendary police detective.
The latest Death Note will be directed by Adam Wingard, who also directed You’re Next and The Guest. The live action Death Note movie is set to release on Netflix in 2017.
As a fan of Death Note, I’m excited about the new film and I’d hope others out there are too, especially with its release on Netflix.
