Gotham’s upcoming ‘Rise of the Villains’ second season is adding yet another villain to it’s already impressive roster in the form of longtime Batman foe Firefly.
The announcement comes courtesy of TVLine who revealed today that the version of Firefly in the series will be female and that it will be portrayed by Michelle Veintimilla (Those Who Kill). Her character is said to appear in 2 episodes (episodes 5 and 6) this upcoming season and will be a part of the Pike Brothers gang which will be lead by Joe Pike, who we learned last week will be portrayed by Leo Fitzpatrick.
According to the outlet the character is set to appear in 2 episodes this season and her character is described as “enslaved by her brothers, a notorious gang of arsonists… Bridgit Pike is forced into the family business. When she catches the eye of Selina Kyle, the young Cat Woman and the soon-to-be-Firefly team up to put Bridgit’s firestarting skills to good use. But after a deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers, the meek Cinderella is transformed into a vengeful supervillain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her.”
Tradionally a male character in the comics, the character first made its appearance Detective Comics #184 back in 1952 as criminal Garfield Lynns. This will be the first time the character has been portrayed as a female.
Gotham’s season 2 premieres on Fox on monday, September 21st at 8pm.
