Two weeks before the release of Gears 4 The Coalition released a statement revealing that Gears 4 wouldn’t have competitive crossplay. The game would only contain PVE cross play between the Xbox One & PC. This caused some controversy and hurt sales of the game.
The Coalition has heard the outcry of the community and looks to rectify it by implement what we all expected when we first heard “Crossplay.” These changes will come in phases, though. They’ll be running a beta test soon, and you’re invited to come cross play your heart away.
According to their official Twitter account, they’ll be hosting a special double XP weekend with cross play between the Xbox One & PC. If this feature is important to you, then I stress you join in on the fun if you own the game. What happens this weekend is critical to the future of the game.

“The purpose of this weekend is to give Crossplay a trial run in a public playlist. We care deeply about players on both platforms and we’ve heard you, so our goal is to use this event to bring in a ton of data and listen to feedback from players on both platforms to examine the results.
What comes next after this hasn’t been decided – this weekend is an incredibly important first step in this process. Once we use the combination of our data and your feedback together, we’ll be able to make an informed next step (or not as the case may be). The key thing we want to stress is that we won’t be making any surprise changes all of a sudden based on this weekend. “
So who’s ready for double XP baby?!
