This is a bit of interesting news, considering Mario has been around for over 30 years and has so many games under his belt. Legendary video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto had a long interview with IGN and told them that he doesn’t want to remake any Super Mario games.
“I don’t really feel like I want to remake any of them,” Miyamoto said. It’s more natural to always create new mechanics and new games”.
“So we’ve been making Mario games for over 30 years, and through that process, we’ve made changes to the games. Some games tended to be a little bit harder, and a little bit harder to play, and then so we teeter back to make it accessible to all kinds of gamers, and then we go back the other way,” Miyamoto went further. “It’s been kind of a give and take in that way.”
Miyamoto won’t get sick of Mario anytime soon but is constantly looking for new and exciting ways to introduce (or reintroduce) Mario into the world. I’m not a fan of remakes either, so I can respect Miyamoto for not wanting to go that route.
