Capcom teamed up with iam8bit to bring us an SNES cartridge of the all-time classic game Street Fighter II. This all sounds great but there’s a small catch, the game can possibly make your SNES catch fire, no joke.
The product page from iam8bit has a rather concerning disclaimer/warning that says:
“Use of this reproduction game cartridge (the ‘Product’) on the SNES gaming hardware may cause the SNES console to overheat or catch fire. The SNES hardware is deemed a vintage collectible, so please exercise extreme caution when using the Product and make sure there is fire extinguishment equipment nearby. Use of the Product is at the sole risk of the user.”
To me this basically says have the fire department on standby if you don’t own a fire extinguisher. Capcom or iam8bit has not implied that they will have any type of warranty to protect the consumer and this is raises a red flag.
This version of the game will cost you $100, with only 5,500 copies being produced with 2 different colors available, one is the Ryu Headband color Red and a glow-in-the-dark green the same color as Blanka. You will be able to get your hands on this (at your own risk of course) at the end of November.
Below is what iam8bit had to say about the games overheating
We're only selling a cartridge. We can't be responsible for the state of the hardware it is being played on

If you choose to buy this Please be careful as Capcom nor iam8bit seems to be taking any sort of responsibility.
