Disney Channel star and teen sensation Zendaya (K.C. Undercover, Shake It Up) has reportedly landed a leading role in Marvel Studios & Sony Pictures’ upcoming Spider-Man reboot! Deadline broke the news yesterday, adding that the teen star will play a character named Michelle opposite Tom Holland‘s Peter Parker.
Hollywood Reporter Borys Kit also stated that sources connected to the film have stated that Marvel and Sony are aiming to have a very culturally diverse cast in the reboot, stating: “Sources tell me that Marvel/Sony has been looking to go heavily non-white with the SPIDER-MAN supporting cast.”
Tom Holland will make his first appearance as Spider-Man in the highly anticipated Captain America: Civil War debuting later this year, before headlining his own solo film next year where he will be joined by Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya as Michelle.
The Spider-Man reboot is set to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
