Over the past couple of months several rumors arose stating that we would be seeing Robin in the highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film. Some rumors even went as far as to say that it would be Zack Snyder’s son, Eli Snyder, that would be portraying the sidekick in a flashback sequence in the film.

Batman v Superman: DOJ director Zack Snyder recently sat down with Yahoo! Movies and addressed the rumors, stating:

There’s a rumor that my son is [playing] Robin. It’s not true. Now there are all these images of him that people have made where he’s dressed like Robin. It’s fun to hear and see them.

Eli Snyder has appeared in 3 of his father’s films to date, first appearing in 300 as a young King Leonidas, then making an appearance in Watchmen as the younger version of Rorschach, while also having a small part in Sucker Punch.

Robin’s suit can be seen in the Batman v Superman trailer, in which we see Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) looking at the suit which is marked by Joker’s writing saying “Hahah joke’s on you Batman“. From that shot we know that a Robin does or did exist at one point int this DC Cinematic Universe but was presumably killed by the Joker at some point during Batman’s never ending crusade against crime. Also interesting to point out that Snyder did not address previous reports from Latino Review and The Hollywood Reporter who claim their sources have told them that we would be seeing a “female version of Robin” appear in the film played by Jena Malone (Sucker PunchThe Hunger Games) who was allegedly spotted on set multiple times.

Keep in mind that while Snyder said that his son would not be playing Robin in the film like several rumors have said, nowhere in his statement did he deny that Robin will in fact make an appearance in the film. It’s still possible that we will see Robin in the film but instead of a male Robin we will see the previously mentioned female version of the character.

Keep checking back here for any new updates. How do you guys feel about a female Robin potentially being in the film? Which incarnation of Robin would you guys want to see most? Let us know in the comments below.
