In some not so great news, Microsoft has laid off 12 support staff employees while keeping the unpaid volunteers that the employees actually trained.
Although it was only 12 people, it’s never a good thing for anyone to lose their job, let alone to ultimately find out that you trained your replacement that was working for free.
This was all part of what was called the Xbox Ambassador program that started back in 2013, where members of the community was awarded prizes for volunteering. So if you’ve got a problem with Xbox and go to twitter with your issues, chances are they are handled by one of the newly promoted unpaid volunteers instead of the usual support staff members.
