With Sony announcing their upcoming Sony Playstation Classic mini console, this is the perfect time for SEGA to jump on board and release one for the Dreamcast. (Released in the USA on 9/9/99).

The SEGA Dreamcast was ahead of it’s time and many gamers weren’t fortunate enough to enjoy the experience mainly in part due to it’s tragically short life span which was roughly 2 years. This is one of my personal favorite consoles, graphics at the time were top notch, controller although it looked weird, actually felt comfortable, a VMU memory card that was interactive depending on the game you played, (i.e. if you played NFL 2K with a friend, you could pick your plays on the VMU instead of the TV screen so your opponent couldn’t see your plays). This console is also the one responsible for online gaming being an actual thing.

If this becomes a reality, there will probably be in the range of 30 games and the titles we’d most likely see would be:

  • Shenmue
  • Power Stone
  • Soul Calibur
  • NBA 2K
  • NFL 2K
  • Sonic Adventure
  • Crazy Taxi
  • Ready 2 Rumble
  • Jet Grind Radio
  • Marvel vs Capcom 2
  • Skies Of Arcadia

That was just to name a few but there are some more notable titles, there are also games that aren’t as popular but are equally as good such as:

  • Resident Evil: Code Veronica
  • House Of The Dead 2
  • Virtua Tennis
  • Street Fighter Alpha 3
  • Phantasy Star Online

Now this is all just wishful thinking BUT if there was ever a time for SEGA to pull the trigger on this move, NOW is the time to capitalize on nostalgia that other companies like Nintendo and more recently Sony has taken advantage of. Let us know how you would feel about a SEGA Dreamcast Classic Console.
