At this point, it’s no secret that the Twitch can be cancerous. I’m all for jokes, but some people go too far to violate people. I’d imagine it’s especially bad if you’re not good at roasting people. It might seem like you’re always under attack.
Twitch knows this and is taking measures to improve everyone’s experience in the chat. Today they announced via their official blog that they’re adding something they call Automod to everyones chat. Automod uses algorithms to moderate chat rooms across the site. The plug claims
“AutoMod is a unique moderation tool that does more than filter inappropriate chat. When a user sends a message that AutoMod flags as potentially inappropriate, the message is held in a publishing queue awaiting moderator approval.
AutoMod also enables broadcasters to adjust the degree of filtering in the event they are more or less conservative about the type of dialogue they want to see in their chat. Beyond identifying inappropriate words and phrases, AutoMod can detect potentially inappropriate strings of emotes and other characters or symbols that others could use to evade filtering.”
I’m sure people will find a way around this.
