Valve has a threat looming over its head and everyone and their mother knows it at this point. The Fortnite creators have entered the same arena as Steam. The original announcement of the Epic Games launcher rubbed PC gamers the wrong way because nobody wants another client to run alongside Steam, Origin, UPlay & more, but Epic doesn’t care. They’re determined to get you to use their client.
It started with them giving away free games and taking a smaller cut of earnings from studios compared to Steam. Now Epic is picking up games that will be timed exclusives to their platform. It started with Metro Exodus which is being reported to have sold more on the Epic store at launch that Steam and now another juggernaut is going to be a timed exclusive.
Our informants claim that Obsidian’s Outer Worlds will now be exclusive to the Epic Games launcher on PC for one year. This is a big deal because Outer Worlds is from the studio behind SWTOR 2 & Fallout New Vegas. They’re known for RPG’s and this one is looking like the type of RPG everyone has been looking forward. To add insult to injury you can also buy Humble Bundle keys for Epics store too.
The client wars are heating up!
