Despite having horrible reviews, Suicide Squad proves that people are just looking for entertainment to occupy their summer time. In the United States alone Suicide Squad has raked in a whopping 20.5 million dollars, it’s opening day (Thursday). That would make this film the highest gross film for a Thursday opening in film history. The previous record holder goes to Guardians Of The Galaxy which only brought in 11 million it’s opening day.

According to our rat, this movie is also doing well overseas. It’s brought in 29.6 million dollars internationally in 40 markets. I’m curious to see how this film does after the weekend is over. These type of crazy numbers just goes to show you there’s a disconnect between average viewers and “critics”. The film may not be the best, but at the end of the day once people finish a 40+hour work week they just want some entertainment.

Are you surprised by Suicide Squad doing numbers? Have you seen Suicide Squad yet? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. Also, make sure to subscribe to the official Gaming illuminaughty Youtube page (click here). We’ll be dropping our group review/discussion very soon.
