Star Wars Battlefront launched mid-November and the reception has been mixed, to say the least, with many fans being left disappointed. The game sold 6 million units in November and matched that total with another 6 million units in December.
Being sold at an average retail price of $55, Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter estimates the game has earned about $660 million in revenue, according to Fortune. This calculation only takes into account the sales of the game, so EA has certainly made even more galactic credits from the sales of the game’s season pass, which is (over)priced at $50.
Battlefront hasn’t been the only virtual breadwinner from the Star Wars universe. Disney Infinity Star Wars toys and games has sold over $200 million, and Star Wars mobile games have made a little less than $300,000.
In related news, Star Wars: The Force Awakens currently sits as the 6th highest-grossing film ever with $1.510 billion. By the time you read this it will most likely has grossed enough to move past Furious 7 and The Avengers to sit in fourth place all-time.
