E3 is next month, and it has been two years since the release of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. That means Assassin’s Creed is more than likely going to have a strong showing at E3 this year. The rumor for the longest is that the next AC will be set in Egypt and would be called Assassin’s Creed Empire.
The Egyptian rumor is still sticking, but that name Empire name isn’t. According to our informant, Ubisoft plans to call the next Assassin’s Creed game Origins. It will be revealed during E3 and will see a fall release. The most interesting new detail to leak is the return of two protagonists.
“The game is said to be set in the vast open world of Ancient Egypt. Its story apparently features two main characters—a man and a woman—and revolves around the original Assassin’s guild. It will reportedly offer a character progression system that one development source of WWG compared to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Gameplay itself is said to place greater emphasis on exploration and offer more freedom over previous Assassin’s Creed titles. The world is apparently “huge” in scope, with it said to be the biggest Assassin’s Creed game to date. Naval combat will reportedly also return, allowing players to travel beyond Egypt, possibly even as far as Greece.”
I wasn’t a big fan of the Naval combat in AC3 and AC4, but I’m sure some of you will be happy to hear that could return. I’m also curious to know what “huge” open world means? Is it going to big for the sake of it being big? Or will Origins offer a vast open world full of activities with unique and fulfilling experiences? Only time will tell. What do I know is that you should take this in with a grain of salt.
