Bryan Singer took to Instagram to post the image below, teasing fans with the possibility that Quicksilver will appear in the upcoming film X-Men: Apocalypse.
You can see in the caption that Singer mentions the character Quicksilver. In the photo, actors look frozen in place surrounded by green screen and I assume that is the same way Quicksilver’s memorable scene was filmed for last year’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. That slowmo scene was lauded by both critics and fans so it makes sense that Fox would want to bring the character back for a similar scene in the upcoming Apocalypse film.
Seeing as how the character Quicksilver has appeared in two separate franchises in the past thirteen months, I’ll clarify things. Through a loophole, both Marvel and Fox have the rights to use the character on screen, except Marvel can’t say that he is a mutant. So, Fox was able to put mutant Quicksilver in last year’s DOFP while Marvel was able to use Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultorn as an “enhanced.” (Although I’m not sure if Marvel can refer to the character as “Quicksilver” because I don’t remember him being called that in AoU.)
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to release May 27, 2016 and stars returning X-Men Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and James McAvoy, along with Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Sophie Turner and Oscar Isaac as the titular villain.
