Imagine spending hundreds, no thousands of hours grinding on the PS4 or Xbox One version of NBA 2K18. You make it to the E-league; only to find out you won’t be playing the console version. According to our plug, they’ll be playing on PC. This is for multiple reasons.
The E-League partnered with Alienware & Intel, so it only makes sense for the setup to be riddled with the products for promo. The PC version being played also makes sense because it’s the superior version from a technical standpoint. If they didn’t have to deal with hackers I’m sure more people would play it. The PC version can run above 1080p and at framerates higher than 60fps.
It’s being reported they’ll be competing on 240Hz monitors too. That will give the players the smoothest experience possible, so there are no excuses! No need for the players to worry either. On PC you can you use a PS4 or Xbox One controller, so they’ll have options. As for why partner with PC companies? 2K’s E-League manager claims
“Our partnerships with Dell and Intel give us the ability to utilize state-of-the-art hardware and technology that will optimize league play and the viewing experience for fans around the world.”
So when the league kicks off and you wonder why the footage is running so smoothly, that’s why!
