Good and bad news for fans of Destiny who planned on picking it up the sequel on PC. Bad news; the games release date is different from the console version. The good news is it’s because Bungie is taking the advice from Blizzard and taking their time producing a proper PC version of Destiny 2.
I’ve seen several tweets from people who attended the reveal event, and they all said the game runs beautifully on PC. I’d imagine Bungie just wants a little extra time to work out all the kinks possible. So what is the release date? According to Bungie’s Luke Smith
“We’re not committed to a PC date yet, but at Bungie, we’re totally committed to making a PC build as great as we can.Our partnership with Blizzard and being on Battle.net, we want to make sure that this version of the game has the time it needs to bake in the oven, so it’s a delicious piece of bread when it comes out.”
But what about the beta? The good news is there will still be a PC beta, but no word on if it will be during the same time as the console version. I’m personally not mad at this decision. The PC community expects a working product for their money, and if you don’t deliver, they will send you to the shadow realm. I doubt Bungie wants that bad PR, so better to safe than sorry. Plus PC gamers get a chance to watch the reviews drop and live streams. I’m personally curious to see how much content Destiny 2 will launch with.
