The other day Epic Games posted to their blog revealing that they’d be pulling the plug on their MOBA Paragon April 26th, 2018. The news broke many fans hearts, but in my opinion, the writing was on the wall. Epic issues refunds to everyone who ever spent money on this game. If you’re one of those people click here to find out how to get your money back.
It would seem the plot to this story thickens. Yes, Paragon is dead, but only in the west. Paragon will continue to thrive in China. How do I know? A launch trailer recently dropped for the Chinese beta. Will there be a difference between the Chinese and western version? I’m not sure, I can’t read Chinese. What I do know is the Chinese powerhouse company Tencent does hold a stake in Epic Games.
I’d imagine that investment in the company is the reason you’re seeing this game come to China. My only question is why do they wait so long for the launch? Also, will China receive the last build of this game and that’s it or will Epic continue to improve the Chinese version? Seems odd. If you check the Paragon Reddit you’ll find some users claiming they’ll be making the jump to the Chinese version Paragon when the western version closes down in April. How about you? I think I’ll just let this game die.
