Jason Rubin, Oculus’ vice president of content announced via a blog post that the 2-year-old studio “Oculus Story” will be closed by Facebook. Facebook has invested $250 million with third-party content producers last year and Rubin has stated that VR film will not be abandon. Rubin also stated “After careful consideration, we’ve decided to shift our focus away from internal content creation to support more external production. As part of that shift, we’ll be winding down Story Studio.” One notable thing that the studio was able to do is produce a short animated film “Henry” which won an Emmy in 2016 for Outstanding Original Interactive Programs” . VR has continued to be the move for multiple companies and as technology continues to evolve, so will games and moves for VR. Facebook is looking to progress and create something innovative.
