We all knew this day would come, but that doesn’t mean we couldn’t ignorantly enjoy our free online for the moment. Nintendo has set a concrete release window for when their fanbase will have to start paying for online gaming. That release window is September 2018.
Nintendo’s online service will set you back $3.99 a month, 7.99 for 3 months or $19.99 for the year. Modest pricing, but still stings to add on an extra bill if you own multiple consoles. The good news is Nintendo’s online service also comes with “free” monthly games. Classic titles such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Ballon Fight and Dr. Mario according to our informant. The only catch is the games will only be free for that month. Nintendo will be cycling them off like Microsoft & Sony’s “free” game programs.
I just hope Nintendo comes correct when they start charging. I own a Switch and so far the online experience has rather hassle-free. I have no problem finding matches in Pokken DX and the online has never lagged for me which is impressive because I’m playing off a fighter off Wifi. So I see no reason how Nintendo could mess this up. Now let us know in the comments below if you’re excited to start paying for what you’ve received for free for the past year?
