I will never understand the business decisions that Nintendo makes. First, they bring out the NES classic which sells like hotcakes. Then, they discontinue the NES classic for unknown reasons. Now reportedly they’re now manufacturing the SNES Classic and it should be around in time for Christmas according to Eurogamer
If I could give a reason why they decided to discontinue production of the NES classic, it had to be due to way too much demand than they could supply. If that’s the reason, it doesn’t make sense why they want to try again with the SNES besides the obvious, money!
The NES classic sold way past anyone’s expectations for a system that is over 30 years old and only had 30 pre-loaded games on it. I would assume if the rumors are true about the SNES classic, that it would follow the same format. It still baffles me how Nintendo likes competing against themselves, but they’re getting money regardless.
Will you be picking up the SNES classic this holiday season? I might pick up some just to flip them!
