Big news broke yesterday that 2K will be throwing their hat back in the American football video game arena. The problem is I seen a lot of misinformation being spread online about this announcement. So let’s talk about the facts. Yesterday 2K announced that they signed a multi-year partnership with the NFL for the rights to produce NON-SIMULATION football games.

Many people skipped over that non-simulation part. This means you shouldn’t expect a competitor to Madden anytime soon. Realistically what you can expect is an arcade football game akin to NFL Blitz or Backbreakers. According to our informant, 2K released this statement in conjunction with NFL

“Expanding the NFL‘s presence in the world of gaming has become a focus for the League as we look to grow the next generation of our fanbase and reviving our partnership with 2K was a natural step in that effort.

“2K is a worldwide leader in sports video games, with a proven track record of creating best-in-class and award-winning games and we look forward to sharing more about the projects we are working on with them in the future.”

Who’s excited for an NFL Neighborhood and more microtransactions?!
