Spider-Man will finally make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in next year’s Captain America 3: Civil War, after which he will appear in his own solo movie in 2017. Spider-Man is Sony’s most successful franchise, having grossed the company over $4 Billion with his 5 movies, and despite the last couple of films having received less than stellar reviews by fans and critics alike, Sony still has big hopes and visions for the character.
With 2 live action films on the way, fans will be seeing plenty of the wall crawler in the near future. Sony’s plans don’t stop there, however, as the company officially announced yesterday at CinemaCon that they will be developing a new animated Spider-Man film set to be written and produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the directors of The Lego Movie.
The animated film will be set outside the continuity of the live action films, however rumors have already begun to hit the internet that this film will be the first of many animated Spider-Man films all set in the same animated universe. No word as of yet on when the movie will make its premiere or even which version of Spider-Man we’re going to see appear in the film. We will keep you posted on any news as they develop.===
