I understand shit happens in the world and things would be easier to take if we had some communication. Let me not get ahead of myself and explain what is going on with MKX on PC. In short, Mortal Kombat X has been scheduled to be released on all platforms for midnight in each region, however, the PC version is using a new technology which apparently only gives access to a 3gb pre-load file that SHOULD allow gamers to play the game while the rest of the game downloads. However, for some unknown reason, that is not the case.
The result of this new technology is constant crashing whenever a menu item is selected. Players can’t even view the options without the game crashing. The only thing PC players are able to do is choose a faction and use the new “quick back to desktop feature,” which is a fancy term for crashing. As of right now, we have as much information on when this problem will be fixed as we do on Half Life 3. NetherRealms has yet to make an official announcement, nor has Steam. There is a rumor on the Steam forums stating that it should work by 1pm EST today, however, there was a similar rumor saying it should work at 3pm EST as well, and clearly that wasn’t the case. What makes this entire situation more confusing is that the Mortal Kombat staff has confirmed that the game should have come out at midnight in this video here and Steam is still advertising that Mortal Kombat X is available now. All I can say is that day one problems are becoming more and more frequent and it needs to stop. Stay tuned to ModernWarNegro.com and I’ll be sure to post when a new development occurs, so check back with us around 1pm EST. If you want to find the comedy in the situation, watch my video below of the first Mortal Kombat X gameplay on PC.
UPDATE 10:45 – Steam users can finally download the rest of the game. I have yet to actually play the game myself, but I am in the process of downloading the game and will be sure to keep you up to date when it works.
