Watchmen is widely recognized as one of the greatest graphic novels of all time, having garnered a cult following over the years and having inspired countless stories and characters in the comicbook verse. The universe has been expended upon in several ways over the years, with videogames, a prequel series and a live action film all having been released in the past couple of years alone.
The live action film, which was released in 2009, was directed by Zack Snyder (300, Man of Steel) and was released to polarizing responses from fans and critics, many of them falling on the Love it or Hate it ends of the spectrum. It appears now that Zack Snyder may have another chance to work with the characters as Collider reports that the director has had meetings with the executives over at HBO concerning a live action Watchmen series.
HBO has recently confirmed that meetings have indeed taken place stating “Preliminary discussions regarding Watchmen have occurred but we have no additional information and no deals are in place.” It’s unclear at the moment whether the series would be a retelling of the film, an adaptation of the prequel series or an entirely new sequel story picking up after the events of the film.
We’ll keep you updated on any news as it develops. How would you guys feel about HBO and Zack Snyder teaming up to do a Watchmen live action series? Let us know in the comment section below!
