Warner Bros. Pictures took center stage today at the Hall H Panel at Comic-Con and they wasted no time making some big announcements regarding their DC Cinematic Universe. Aside from having released the brand new Batman v Superman: DOJ trailer earlier today, they also unveiled the name for the upcoming Green Lantern reboot, which will be entitled ‘Green Lantern Corps.‘.
No word on who the protagonist(s) and villain(s) will be in the reboot, however, seeing as the film is a direct reference to the entire Green Lantern Corps it’s probably safe to assume that the film will introduce more than one Green Lantern. Rumors surfaced last month that actor Chris Pine (Star Trek) was in talks to star in the reboot. A rumor that actor/singer Tyrese (Fast and Furious franchise) seemed to add fuel to when he posted a photo on Instagram of himself and Chris Pine as Green Lanters.
Tyrese also spoke with Entertainment Weekly and revealed that he had talked with folks at Warner Bros. Pictures about starring in the film. He had this to say:
“There are certain things I can’t speak on. But I will say, however this works out, it’s definitely the fans’ fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it. I’ve been a fan of the Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We’ll just see what happens.”
It’s unsure which Green Lantern will appear in Justice League: Part One and Part Two, but as of right now there is a strong possibility that the reboot will feature more than one member of the Green Lantern Corps. It’s still uncomfirmed, however, whether or not Chris Pine and Tyrese will star in the film, though it’s certainly looking like that will be the case.
