Supergirl has added 2 brand new characters to its roster as CBS reported at the TCS (Television Critics Association) press tour that Indigo and the villain Master Jailer will join the ranks!
The first of these characters, Indigo, will be played by fan favorite actress Laura Vandervoot, who most of us know from her role as none other than Supergirl on the hit series Smallville, having played the character from 2007 to 2011. The character of Indigo is described as “A living, strong-willed supercomputer that was sentenced to Fort Rozz after turning against the people of Krypton. Now on Earth, Indigo will let nothing stand in her way.”
Vandervoot isn’t the first actor to be cast that has been previously involved in the Superman mythos, whether it be on a series or in a film. Supergirl’s foster parents in the series, Jeremiah and Eliza Danvers, are portrayed by Dean Cain and Helen Slater, the former of whom starred as Superman in the hit series ‘Lois & Clark: The Adventures of Superman’, while the latter starred as Supergirl herself in the poorly received live action film.
Concerning the villain Master Jailer, CBS announced that actor Jeff Branson had been cast in the recurring role. The character is described as “As the forceful and unrelenting jail guard on Fort Rozz, Master Jailer showed no mercy. Now on Earth, he is hellbent on catching all of the Fort Rozz escapees and brutally bringing them to justice.”
Supergirl airs on Monday nights at 8 P.M on the CBS network!
