The on-demand video market just got a bit more interesting. Up until now, YouTube has been the only real viable platform for content creators to reap the rewards of their hard work. This has led to Youtube becoming lazy and the site falling apart in certain aspects. Enter Facebook video! It has been on the rise the past year with many content creators double posting, but there still been no way to make money.
There is now. According to our informant, Facebook has seen a stunt in financial growth, and they’re looking to find new ways to bring money in. That new way is mid-roll ads in video. Facebook is currently experimenting with letting ads run mid video on their platform. They announced they have plans to share revenue with content creators 50-50.
This is a big deal. This will attract content creators frustrated with Youtube. Especially since it’s way easier to go viral on Facebook. Ultimately Competition will keep both platforms honest which leads to innovation. Plus it never hurts to have multiple ways to monetize your content. Hopefully, Facebook does right by the people.
We’ll see how this one plays out.
