Fiming is already underway for the second season of Marvel’s hit series Daredevil and recently we learned that the Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal) will appear going up against the titular hero this upcoming season. Now we learned that yet another very talented killer will join the ranks as Marvel has just announced that Daredevil’s former flame Elektra is set to appear in the new season, played by Elodie Yung (G.I Joe: Retaliation, District 13: Ultimatum).
Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb made the announcement, speaking on the casting process that went into place before selecting Elodie as the new Elektra.
“After a worldwide search, we found in Elodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.” In addition, the character is described as “a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.”
The character Elektra is mentioned in the first season of Daredevil but is never seen on screen. This will be the 3rd time Elektra will be portrayed in a live action setting, with Jennifer Garner having played the role twice in 2003’s live action film Daredevil and it’s 2005 spin-off/sequel Elektra.
