Update: It’s been officially canceled. The ESA released this statement online

“After careful consultation with our member companies regarding the health and safety of everyone in our industry–our fans, our employees, our exhibitors and our longtime E3 partners–we have made the difficult decision to cancel E3 2020, scheduled for June 9-11 in Los Angeles,”

This coronavirus is no joke. All of Italy is on lockdown. GDC, South by Southwest and many other events have fallen victim to this virus. The latest COULD be the super bowl of gaming aka E3. I say COULD be because this news hasn’t been confirmed. Several major publications claim inside sources have told them that board behind E3 might be revealed soon that the event is canceled.

Adding fuel to flames is indie game developers Digital Revolver. They tweeted last night that everyone should cancel their E3 flights and hotel plans. This led to further speculation that the event would come to a halt. I don’t want to spread misinformation for click and views, so when we have a full confirmation from the E3 board I’ll be sure to update this article. Until this, I’d advise everyone to not get their hopes. It’s looking spooky in these streets.
