Remember a few months back when we announced that SEGA was working on a Sonic film? No? Allow me to refresh your memory.

“SEGA Sammy group is currently planning with with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ movie scheduled for release in 2018.”

This live-action animation hybrid was met with a lot of skepticism in our comment section. But what if I were to tell you there’s some hope? Our snitch tells us the guy (Jeff Fowler) who directed Deadpool has come on board for the Sonic film.

“Jeff is an incredible director with strong story instincts,” said Miller of Fowler, in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “The world of Sonic presents the perfect opportunity for him to leverage his experience in animation to bring new dimension to this iconic character.”

Does this mean the film is going to be a winner? No! But there is some hope because Deadpool was a solid film that broke box office record. Here’s to hoping Jeff can do right by Sonic!
