ClonerAlliance has a product called the HDML-Cloner Box, a standalone Mini 1080p Gaming and video capture box without needing the use of a PC. This device also comes with a 16GB flash drive. This has been out for about a year now but they are still advertising this as a new product all over social media.
Some of the devices features are
- No need for PC. Capture streaming videos onto USB memory devices
- Full HD 1080p supported
- Support any video device. HDMI cable included
- Easy to use, one button press record. Lifetime firmware and software upgrades for free.
- 16 GB USB flash drive.
By looking at the product, it doesn’t look like anything to write home about, but in most cases looks can be deceiving, unfortunately for this product, it doesn’t measure up to the premiere gaming capture device Elgato.
The fact that it’s 1080p is good but in 2017 this is to be expected and coming with only 16GB of memory isn’t impressive considering that will only give you maybe 2hrs of capture at that quality if you’re lucky. There’s also something missing in their sales pitch they failed to mention which is it is only 30fps. Nowadays 60fps is the preferred method of gaming. If there’s any saving grace for the product, the $79.99 price is affordable but even then you can get an older version of an Elgato for that price and still come out better.
In a genre where quality is key, the HDML Cloner Box doesn’t seem to keep up with today’s standards and technology, this is more like a device that would have been released back in 2012.
Take with this what you want, but my personal opinion is to stay far away from this as even the most novice gamer looking to capture gameplay will outgrow this very quick. They do have a newer version of this product called the EVOLVE so If you are interested, feel free to check it out HERE.
