Deep Silver was live at E3, and they reached out to the Gaming Illuminaughty to try out their new game ‘Agents of Mayhem’ by Volition, the same people who made the Saints Row series. They decided to create a brand new comic hero universe featuring the Agents of M.A.Y.H.E.M. (the Multinational Agency for Hunting Evil Masterminds), super agents from all over who are tasked to defeat the evil organization called L.E.G.I.O.N. (the League of Evil Gentlemen Intent on Obliterating Nations).
This series stays true to the over the top gameplay, filled with unique dialogue for each character, vulgar language, and cartoon style graphics. The game is single player only and features 3 characters on a team that you can switch in between at any time. Each character has their own unique personality, special moves, and upgrades.
We, unfortunately, could not record gameplay or secure an interview so I will go over what I thought during my hands-on playthrough. The part that I was playing involved the agents attempting to recover a pop star who got kidnapped by L.E.G.I.O.N. The game felt slightly on the easy side, as it was rare that I ran into any real trouble that hindered my progress. It is a run and gun third person shooter, but besides the characters, moves, and dialogue it felt slightly generic. I will play more when the game drops or if a beta arrives. I really enjoyed the Saints Row series, and I have high hopes for this game. The lack of multiplayer and/or co-op is a bummer, but the fact that you can switch between three different characters does make things better.
The game drops in 2017 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC (Sorry Wii U). Check out some screenshots below and some footage of the game.
