Apple was granted a Patent that will allow people who are equipped with the required infrared light emitter remotely to disable an iPhone’s photo and video recording capabilities. The purpose of this is supposed to keep people from recording concerts, shows, and other live events and uploading them to the internet. Now uploading live concerts should not happen but what’s wrong with people recording their favorite part of live events. Everyone deserves to have memories and should have the right to share them for years to come.
My question is, who is going to determine which phones should be able to record or not? Another thought, what is going to happen if someone is being treated unfair and someone is recording for video evidence. How will the world truly see what happens if the footage is blocked off by infrared light? I feel like this is a huge security risk, and I hope these situations are addressed.
