In my humble opinion, NBA 2K18 was the worst basketball I’ve played in recent memory. There were so many things wrong with the game. The lack of rookie mode (to ease the Myplayer grind), laggy park, janky animations, snatch back cheese, and microtransactions all added to the headache.
BUT microtransactions were front and center in last years game. Everything cost something. 2K even had the nerve to jack up prices on haircuts. People forgot that at the top of the season it was 1000VC for a haircut, which is a lot if you’ve never played a 2K game. The company caught a lot of heat from the community which forced them to eventually drop the prices.
That doesn’t mean 2K Games is out of hot water. People forgive, but never forget. 2K19 is right around the corner and their higher-ups felt the need to comment on last years fiasco in the midst of begging the Belgium government to allow them to enable their microtransactions. According to our snitch, 2K’s senior producer said:
“We know nowadays that most people don’t have the patience to work their way to the top. They just wanna be there right away. So, you know, we look at it as, oh it’s an opportunity for us to allow you to skip the grind, but then if the grind is too long, like some people felt last year, they’re gonna sit there and they’re gonna go ‘well, you knew the grind was too long to begin with.”
Translation: since some people are too lazy to just play the game we are going to punish everyone else. I also call bs on “most people don’t have the patience to work their way to the top”. Of course, some people are like that, but I want to see some stats. I doubt most people are paying $60 to not play their game. What do you y’all think of this news?
